We are a well respected independent Natural Products brokerage with offices nationwide, representing a range of natural and organic brands in the marketplace. We actively seeking positive, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented sales professionals to join our team and help serve our retail accounts in the following territories:

Territory Representative (Chicago)

JOB SUMMARY

Territory Representatives establish and manage sales relationships within their assigned territory, while providing our brands with a high level of service, expertise, and support. They are experts in working strategically to improve sets, fill voids, confirm execution of off-shelf agreements and TPR price points, and maximize promotional spending for our principals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and strengthen relationships with store level buyers, managers and store staff at Whole Foods Market, Sprouts Farmers Markets, independent and Co-Op buyers, and store staff.

  2. Develop positive and trusting relationships with all of our grocery brand principals.

  3. Ensure brands are well represented in stores with approved skus.

  4. Be an expert in the grocery lines YYN represents in the region.

  5. Be proactive in supporting retailers, distributors, and principals with resets (may require early morning/overnighters), store openings, trade shows.

  6. Proactively recommend ways to increase sales for principals.

  7. Provide administrative support for regional retailers.

  8. Provide field level support for assigned area, working with their lead.

  9. Stay aware of and report on efforts by competitors to our principals regarding new items, new pricing, new packaging, etc.

  10. Be proactive in generating ideas for growing our principals’ business and make suggestions for improvement.

  11. Be proactive in generating ideas for continuously improving ourselves, our service to our principals, and the well-being of our team members.

 

MEASURABLE OBJECTIVES

  1. Kaizen: Seek out and implement improvements in-set for brands (with store approval) and secondary (off-shelf) placements. Includes but not limited to getting closer to filling voids on approved skus, gaining eye-level position, brand blocking, adding facings/increasing shelf space, color breaking, changing SKU flow, etc.

  2. Call on stores regularly to fill voids and introduce new items.

  3. Ongoing and timely communication with YYN team and principals.

  4. Report to YYN grocery team and principals with before/after pics of all Kaizen/Merchandising.

  5. Store visits to complete audits of YYN lines w/ suggestions for opportunities. Fill voids per planogram as permitted by stores/HQ.

  6. Help store buyers restock shelves during store visits.

  7. Quarterly progress report and brainstorming meetings with YYN regional leads.

  8. Identify and develop new market opportunities.

  9. Assist Territory Managers to present and receive buyer approval for new lines/SKUs.

  10. Assist Territory Managers with Promotional paperwork as needed

  11. Uphold Yin Yang Naturals social and environmental values, including prioritizing 40 hours of volunteer work per year, buying local whenever possible, and being environmentally conscious in home office setup and travel decisions in the field. 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently and solve problems proactively.

  • Ability to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficient with technology and capable of learning new skills quickly.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a working, fully insured vehicle and be able to travel independently.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. independently and crouch or kneel for prolonged periods of time.

  • Must be able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, and ramps.

  • May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

TERRITORY AND ACCOUNTS

  • Primary coverage will be greater Chicago area with occasional trips to St. Louis, Missouri.  Store level support to include: Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme, Jewel, NCG/INFRA, Natural Grocers, Dierbergs, Hy-Vee and other Indies.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • Reports directly to Midwest Regional Manager.

 

SALARY RANGE OF POSITION

  • $51,480-$60,500, depending on experience.
