What led you to YYN?

 

What began as a part-time job at a Natural Foods Store while working my way through college became a lifelong career in the Natural Foods space. It is very fulfilling to work for a company that aligns with my values (and love of food)!

 

What’s the best thing about your job?

 

My favorite aspect of working at YYN is the wonderful people I get to work with. YYN has promoted a culture of fun, kindness and openness that has fostered a strong community feel and allowed me to make several life-long friends among my co-workers.

 

How do you like to recharge outside of work?

 

My favorite thing to do to recharge outside of work is to take long walks with my nine-pound mutt, Daffodil. Having pleasant little conversations with my neighbors and their dogs is such a nice way to connect with people.

 

What’s a small ritual that brings you joy during the day?

 

I begin every day by preparing a pot of pour-over coffee for my husband and myself. I enjoy the humble ceremony of the act, the smell of the grounds and, eventually, the taste of the coffee. I purposely brew half or sometimes quarter-caff so that I can repeat this ritual several times in a morning.

 

What’s your favorite place to volunteer?

 

My favorite place to volunteer is at Food Forward Mudtown Market in Watts. The residents of Watts are gracious, sweet, and friendly. They always make me feel welcome and I’m grateful they allow me to volunteer for them.
